L2L Day 80 Taynuilt to Oban - 12 miles

While walking yesterday Sally developed a sore foot so we decided it would be best for her, after the exertions of last week, to have a rest day and take the train the short distance from Taynuilt to Oban.

That meant I could walk over the top to Oban on Cycle route 78.

After leaving the accommodation, the road crossed a cattle grid onto the moorland.

The day was taken up with enjoying the abundance of yellow irises and watching out for beasts... admiring them.....

.....fearing them....

looking at them looking at me and generally keeping an eye over my shoulder!!!

What's he thinking?!

The rain came and went...and came again.

Nice pair of socks!

Clach na Carraig - at 14ft high, "one of the most impressive standing stones in Argyle".

More rain.....

I'm not sure but could this be an 'Empress of the Sun' moth?

The steepest climb was kept to the end at Glencruitten with just 2 miles to go.

And then a steep drop passed the water lilles in the rain at Luachrach Loch - not to be said with a sore throat!!

Then under the railway line into Oban

and a quick visit to my favourite shop - Timpson's, to check they can reheel my boots before the islands. And YES! they can. Also a recommendation for a locals pub - The Claredon for a resuscitating beer. Once tried....never fu fu fu forgotten! .... though we didn't stay for the karaoke!
