L2L Day 58 Moffat

Moffat - a rest day, so what about a relaxed breakfast with perhaps just another round of toast.

If yesterday was wet at times, today was wet ALL day. The Museum was closed and the distillery isn't releasing it's first whiskies until next year and only offering gin tastings so we decided to give that a miss.

Moffat in the drizzle and mist is an experience to behold.

By the afternoon we could barely see the edge of the town. By the evening you could only just make out the church steeple.

So, a day of coffees, shop window gazing and a game of pool at lunchtime.

Moffat is on various routes. The motorbikers came here for the Bucc8 and the cyclists come here because it's on the LeJog route. Busses stop here en route to Airdrie or Glasgow and logging trucks pass through every few minutes.

So, Moffat, don't knock it! And the Famous Star Hotel at only 20ft wide is a great place.

Having looked at tomorrow's route to Leadhills (22 miles!!!), we decided to shorten it a few miles and arranged a taxi to Beattock to avoid our having to negotiate the M74.
Let's see how it goes!
