L2L Day 39 Hebden Bridge

A day in Hepden Bridge - a rest day.

What do retired teachers do on a Saturday in Hebden Bridge??? Well if you're like Janet,  Alex and Dani, you get going to a Steam Punk bash.

We met at the bus stop in Heptonstall and they were off to catch the steam train special to Hawarth. They'd met up last night to finish their costumes but after a little wine they'd decided to postpone final touches until this morning. Dani had her needle and cotton out while waiting for the 596 to Hebden Bridge.

Needless to say, everyone on the bus was wishing they were going along too.

We met friends, Clare and Peter for coffee before going off to do some exploring and visit the Saturday market.

With the market in full swing and loads of independent shops, t
he town was relaxedly buzzing.

In the afternoon, we headed back up to Hepstonstall to visit the two churches and the grave of Sylvia Plath.

Clare and Peter had invited us for supper at their place. So at 18:00 we walked down passed the Hexagonal Chapel to their place on the outskirts of Heptonstall through a bluebell wood. Beautiful.

After a delicious supper

we all - including Juno their black labrador,  headed back up to The Cross for a final pint of GooseEye from Lindsay and where Linda was already laying out for tomorrow's breakfast.

A really good relaxing day.
